North County's newest horse boarding facility provides unique options for horse owners. It's more than just a place for horse owners to park their horses between visits; it's a natural horsemanship oasis for both horses and their owners. Savvy Stables offers traditional boarding facility amenities such as 24' x 24' corrals, 12' x 24', extra large pens, mare motel, round corrals, and arenas. However, going beyond the basics, Savvy Stables also provides a unique environment designed specifically for the natural horsemanship enthusiast. Savvy Stables has dedicated over 10 acres to a virtual playground ("Playland") of natural obstacles and wide open spaces where people can bring their horses out to refine their skills, overcome their fears, develop their horses confidence, make friends, and have fun! Natural horsemanship is a method of training horses that creates a deeper partnership between owners and their horses. It is part horse psychology to help owners better understand their horses, and part human retraining.
The goal of natural horsemanship is to progress from forcing a horse to do what the owner wants, to the horse becoming a willing partner.
Owner, Cindy Giannini, had the good fortune to attend a Level 2, two week course at Pat Parelli's International Study Center (ISC ) in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Since her return home she's been inspired to help Savvy Stables become a wonderful place like Pats; from the bunkhouse accommodations, to the natural landscaping ( for the horses pleasure of eating), to "Playland".
She returned to the ISC for the the six week courses which included:
"Liberty and Horse Behavior"
"Fluidity I - Freestyle"
and
"Fluidty II - Finesse"
